Michele Amadò

After obtaining a diploma in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Viterbo, Michle Amadò received a degree in Philosophy from the University of Perugia and a PhD from the University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’.

He taught Esthetics and Sociology of Art (Academy of Fine Arts in Viterbo), History of European thinking (Scuola superiore per operatori sociali in Mendrisio), Esthetics and Philosophy of Art (Institute of Philosophy of the Faculty of Theology, Lugano), Esthetics and rhetoric at the SUPSI (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland) where he is currently professor.

At the Università della Svizzera italiana he teaches visual communication.

He authored numerous essays and edited volumes that cover artistic, historic, esthetic and philosophical topics. Ever since his master’s thesis on the language of Heidegger, he is interested in the philosophy of language.

He has given and gives seminars and lessons on the transfer of meaning between semiotics and communication, in particular, between the iconic and linguistic codes.
