Maria Garbelli

After obtaining the master degree in management at the University of Brescia, Maria Garbelli received a PhD from the University of Milano Bicocca (Milan, Italy).
She spent almost one year as visiting student at the UNESCO Chair in ICT to develop and promote sustainable tourism in World Heritage Sites, established at at Università della Svizzera italiana-USI (Lugano, Switzerland).
Currently, Maria Garbelli is a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Marketing and Management at Università degli Studi di Milano Bicocca.
She conducts teaching and research activities covering topics mainly related to the management of Small and Medium Enterprises (internationalisation, human resources management, sustainability, industry 4.0), and on sustainable tourism (the use of ICTs to preserve and promote heritage in connection with World Heritage Sites; heritage communication through ICTs; cooperation to foster tourism destinations’ digital promotion strategies; localisation of social media contents in tourism).
At the Università degli Studi di Milano Bicocca she teaches Market Driven Management.
Maria Garbelli authored and co-authored numerous papers covering tourism and sustainability topics.
In 2015 she was executive director of a Summer School in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair in ICT to develop and promote sustainable tourism in World Heritage Sites.
