Giacinta Jean

Giacinta Jean is an architect specialised in the conservation of built heritage. She graduated at the Polytechnic of Milan in 1991. In 1997 she became Docteur ès sciences EPFL with the research Crémone. Construction et usage des hôtels particuliers entre le XVIIe et le XIXe siècle. She got a Ph.D. in the history of architecture and urban planning at the Polytechnic of Turin in 1999.

Giacinta Jean is active as a conservation architect, working both in the private sector and at universities. She worked as an assistant at the University of Geneva from 1991 to 1995 and as an invited teacher (also  involved in research activities) at the Polytechnic of Milan from 1998 to 2004.

Fields of research: history and archaeology of the built heritage, history of construction techniques, conservation and restoration of historic monuments, retrofitting and conservation of technological fittings.

She has been responsible for the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in conservation restoration at SUPSI (University of Applied Arts and Sciences of Southern Switzerland) and the promotion of activities in education and research since 2005.
